Hello SLR Members:
Tom Hanson and I are inquiring as to whether anyone has a relationship with any of the major genetic testing companies. Our Legislative Commission on Data Practices held a hearing on the topic and there was a bipartisan interest in pursuing legislation in 2019 in Minnesota to add consumer protections for individuals who use genetic testing services. I also had a conversation with the incoming chair of the House Civil Law Committee and he indicated a strong interest in exploring additional consumer protections for consumers as well as enforcement mechanisms, including a private right of action.
Based on my research, the major players in this space are Ancestry.com<http://Ancestry.com>, 23 and ME, My Heritage, Family Tree DNA, and Veritas.
Thanks in advance for any help.
